Not sure where to turn..
I was working for a company doing pipeline installations on a project in Butler PA. We were subcontracted by a larger company to do the specialty installations. I was injured on September 15th,2010. My employer, who was also a friend of the family, assured me that he would take care of everything and not to worry about reporting it to the workmen's compensation insurance. We agreed that we wouldnt bring lawyers into the situation and would work things out between us. I was seen by doctors and had MRI's done and once it was decided that the injury was serious and I wouldnt be able to return to work, My employer hired a lawyer.I followed suit. It turns out that he did not have workman's compensation. I am currently in a law suit to retrieve what is owed to me and future pay and medical bills. I am a father of 2 special needs children and my wife can not work, as she has to take of my children and myself. I will eventually win my case, but in the mean time we have no income coming in to support ourselves. Ive sold off most of our valuables to help and our families. though not rich, help when they can. I am 10 months into the lawsuit, I still have not received medical help, I applied for disability and was denied, I have filed for unemployment and denied since I am still injured and not able to work. There is so much more to the story - I just dont know what to do. I have always been able to provide a decent living and keep our family safe and prosperous, but with all of this going on I dont know where to turn. It is hard to even write this, as my pride gets in the way and asking for help is not my best feature. Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
